About 10 years ago I got a free TT-76(*) from a local railroad museum that
was cleaning house. They had several of those and TT-100's. It is really
nice and clean. Brought it home, oiled it up and it ran error free as a
stand alone unit. I wanted it as a spare for my RATT shelters so it was
stored. Last week I got it off the shelf, oiled it up and it still ran
great so I put it in the local loop in the shack. The other machines could
not copy it nor could the TT-76 copy the other machines. Checked the motor
speed and it was good at 3,600 RPM. Opened up the gear box and found 50
baud, 414 OPM. That's 69 WPM, clearly not a standard. The spare gears are
standard at 600 OPM, 100 WPM. Anyone ever see this speed? Don't know if
the railroad used these machines or not. I lowered the motor speed 9% with
the governor and it works well in the loop but would like to find gears. I
never see Kleinschmidt parts for sale.
