[GreenKeys] Speaking of ebay

The listing person just copied the description from the other “Telex 32 7BB” machine that was listed on ebay because it looked like this machine. The photo of the label on this machine shows it’s a “33 F X3/1”. Does that indicate it’s a “TWX” machine? As an ASR 33 it should be an 8 bit ASCII machine, and 110 BAUD. If it’s a “TWX machine” would the only difference be that it doesn’t interface current-loop, it has some other proprietary interface? Wayne’s photo in a previous post shows you would need to replace the call control unit, which is basically a power supply and a driver board. What’s inside this machine? The guy has lowered the price again BTW…

It would be a shame to destroy this TWX teletype to make it computer ready. Plus you would need parts that are hard to come by.

But as is it is sadly only useful for a museum.

Just my opinion.

That 33 ASR that is described as a 32 model Telex on ebay is still for sale. Price dropped from 1700 to 1400.

The unit is very close to me geographically. I had emailed the seller when it was 1700 asking a few questions. Today they emailed me asking if I was still interested, and said they didn't know what to ask as a selling price.

I'm kinda perplexed because I want a "computer 33" -- which that is not. But it is close to me and I might be able to get it at a reasonable price.

On the other hand, I'd rather get a real "computer 33". I just don't know how difficult that is going to be/how rare they are. The people that have them don't want to let them go.
