Nick,

I think what you saw were the thyratrons in a REC-30 power supply.
Mine are marked JAN CZ-323A. CZ should be a Navy contractor code.

There is also a regular metal 6F6 and an NE-42 glow lamp.

I believe the REC-30 was the standard power supply issued with Navy
and Signal Corps FGC-9 printers (Model 19)  Mine has an MFP date of
1954, while the Model 19 says it was refurbished by the Navy in San
Francisco in 1959.
