FWIW, I use el cheapo CAT-5E cable (4 pair of #26) to run from a red patch
panel to various shelves of TTY gear in my “message center”. Longest run is
maybe 30’. At each shelf I have a terminal strip to connect up to 4
machines.

The TTY room patch panel has a 100’ run of CAT-5 as four “trunk lines” to a
black patch panel in my radio room. There is maybe another 30’ to some of
the TU gear in that room. So maybe 160’ run max. No problems. Knock on
wood.

n.b. unfortunately there is nothing but twisted pair and a rack-mounted
photo of a TSEC/KW-7 between the red and black patch panels. Sigh.
