Be extra careful with that relay. They are rugged, in place, with little or no vibration. If they
are slightly mishandled, some of the contacts can jump out of position and prevent operation or
cause wires to be connected which should not be.
These are called Wire Spring Relays, and it is not the typical relay operation. It is the one or
two 'poles' which move, not the 'common'. The contacts move back and forth, on the outsides, and
the center contact remains still. Almost opposite of most other relays. This action provides a
small amount of 'wiping' of both contacts and promotes long life and long, sure operation.
In decades past, some Central Offices were run almost entirely on these relays. When the Crossbar
Relay came about, the 'count' of Wire Spring relays dropped, but was not eliminated until the
advent of the various forms of "ESS" systems. (Electronic Switching Systems)
Wire spring relays continued on in various sub-assemblies and were commonplace in advanced Teletype
systems. I don't know when they were taken out of production. I suspect that other than in some
dark corner of a warehouse, somewhere, there are no more 'new' Wire Spring Relays to be had.
With power off, once the assembly is placed in the Teletype, carefully work the black plastic parts
of the relay to visually inspect for unimpaired movement and good contact and clean breaking of the
opening side.
Have fun!

PS I'm attaching a few photos of something I put together a few years back using
these relays and a standard mounting plate. Each relay 'frame' holds two
complete relays. Note four leads from each relay going to coils.
Gently moving the black fiber items will provide manual operation of the
relay and confirm that 'all is well' and good electrical operation should
follow.
If good movement and operation is not seen, you must carefully remove
the clear plastic cover and VERY carefully move things with a delicate
touch to restore things.
