[GreenKeys] Then and now...

I got my first Teletype machine, a Model 15, in 1972. Followed by
a Model 19 in 1974.

Local loop? Terminal unit? Keying a transmitter? Cabinet wiring?
You either had the documents or you didn't. If you didn't, well...

Do you know someone else with anything? No.
Do you know what books are out there? No.
Do you have any idea where to buy parts? No.
Do you subscribe to QST, 73 or Ham Radio? Maybe.
Do you have a library? Good luck with the card catalog.

There are no computers, BBSes, Internet, email.
There are no places like Kinko's to make prints for you.
Long distance phone calls are by no stretch free or cheap.

*Laughs* Go ahead and say it. "Ten miles each way to school,
in the snow, uphill both ways."

I remember when I got my Model 19 off the trailer and into
my garage and looking at the wiring in the back. "The f***?"
Do you know how long it takes to generate a schematic by
hand with an ohm meter?

Ok, end of rant.

What I want to say now is, thank you to everyone on this
email list. To the wonders of the world wide web. And to
everyone willing to take the time to share what they have.

Jeff
