The original "Model 14" was designed & built for Western Union as the 
"Model 2B" tape printer.

Around 1940, a receiving perforator ("reperforator") was designed. It 
was known as the RPE, or "Single Magnet Reperforator" (Bul. 162B). It 
was in a tall cabinet with the tape roll on the top. It typically sat on 
a small doll, under a M19. It was considered part of the M14 line, but 
did not look like the existing WU 2B.



At some point, the 2B tape printer was modified to both print and punch 
tape.  This is what we typically think of as the M14. Then the RPE was 
replaced by a M14 printing reperf in the same tall cabinet, which is 
what was listed in this sale.
