I'd love to give some of this equipment a good home, but I'm a good 1000+ miles away, as usual.
It hurts my heart to hear about this kind of equipment being scrapped. Having brought my machines to a few public events now, I know that both adults and kids of all ages LOVE these machines (especially when they can interact with them using modern technology such as sending SMS, emails, and so forth). They can't get enough of them. My boy really enjoys them, too-- I've started him young (many of you've already seen this): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KtZtc8sVEw
Most visitors have it in their heads that I modified typewriters to communicate automagically, and some still won't believe me when I tell them that they're operating how they were originally designed dating back to 1930 with earlier similar designs before that, and that much of our modern technological infrastructure builds in some way on this technology. People think of floppy disks and amber terminal screens as the "beginning", but then I whip out (lug out? heft out) my teletypes and telegraphs and give them a taste of where it really started. I love me some glass terminal time just like the next nerd, of course, but you can't beat a teletype chattering away with its guts exposed.
