[GreenKeys] M28 features for RTTY operation today?

The purpose of the CR CR LF LTRS sequence is to assure that the typebox or type
basket is back at the left margin BEFORE any significant characters are printed.

It is possible, under some circumstances of synchronization machine wear/adjustment for
a character to be printed as the device moves to the left, IF the extra characters are
not sent at the end of a line.

I saw a couple of shipmates who occasionally had a contest to see who could drop a period
in the center of a zero this way. The idea was to type a zero and with precision
timing, type a period as the type mechanism was returning to the left margin. I saw it
done a number of times, but never a situation where it happened every time. It often
took a dozen or more attempts for it to happen. Where 'non-overline' is employed, all
one can do is place the period directly UNDER the zero, I guess. We never had non-
overline on any of our 28s so anything I say here would be guesswork.

CR CR LF LTRS is not a bad habit to establish.

Ralph - W8ROI

PS Most Model 28s that I've seen are set to ring the bell or a bell as the 72nd
character is printed to warn the typist to end a word and then CR CR LF LTRS.

The other option that can be selected is "word wrap on keyboard" That option keeps the letter of a word together when you get to the end of a line. However, this is only on the computer screen of the transmitting station as the size of the MMTTY window will vary depending on how the individual operator has set up his MMTTY window. Neither is a big help for a mechanical RTTY machine operator.
