Make it a deep bucket! I’ve seen mice jump incredible heights and yes, out of a bucket. Although that was a dry bucket. I guess some water makes the difference there

Yep, it's the only thing I've ever found to be almost completely effective at keeping mice out of cars and equipment. Add some green antifreeze if the bucket's in an unheated building, and the 'rolling pin' can be substituted by an empty soda can and a dowel. Add a little peanut butter and voila!  -C

Mice in 33's ruin everything with their acidic urine and wire chewing.  They like the UCC-6 a lot.
