While my wife was doing genealogical research of old newspapers 
(Fultonhistory.com), she came across this article about a RTTY demo in 
1922.  In that it was done at the University of Illinois, I would assume 
they were using Morkrum M11s.

At about this same time, the Krums had an experimental RTTY circuit from 
Chicago to Milwaukee and the US Navy did air-to-ground RTTY trials using 
the M11.
