My reference to the RPE reperforator sitting on a dolly under the M19
table was for the 5-bit RPE.

I don't know of a 6-bit version of the M19. No reason that there could
not have been one other than maybe  quantity. Obviously, the RPE (5-bit
or 6-bit) could also sit on a table, as  you showed.

There certainly was a 6-bit version of the M15. It was the M20, as you
referenced.

A TTS perforator requires additional counting equipment to handle
set (character width) and spaceband expansion, and a way of indicating
line length ranges to the operator.

The RPE reperf provided a storage media of the news (in upper & lower
case) coming in from AP. There may have been other equipment that read
the 6-bit tape from the RPE and added the extra information before it
went to the typesetting equipment???

Glad you were able to get that 6-bit RPE reperf.

have fun,

Duncan
