A report, a question, and some photos:
The 6-bit Teletype(setter) Reperforator listed on ebay is now safely
in my car (which is in my garage - that's the amazing thing :-)
Rather than risking shipping, I just drove down to get it; it was
only 275 miles from me.
This is a "bare" unit without its cover. Here's a photo
of a different TTS Reperforator with its cover (and an external tape reel
and its table):

My question has to do with something that Duncan said when he
identified the ebay unit. I'm sure that I must be misunderstanding
something. He wrote:
>It typically sat on a little dolly under the M19 table
Does this refer to the regular 5-level TTY reperforator, or to
the 6-level TTS unit?
I am *presuming* that it refers to the 5-level TTY reperf, because
to the best of my knowledge neither TTY nor Fairchild ever made
anything like a 6-level version of the Model 15 or Model 19 setup.
Or am I wrong? Did they?
A TTS perforator requires additional counting equipment to handle
set (character width) and spaceband expansion, and a way of indicating
line length ranges to the operator.
Just because it's easy, here's a lineup of the rest of the office-side
components of a Teletype-vintage (vs. Fairchild or later) TTS system
(that is, less the linecaster Operating Unit):
An ex-AP Model 20 printer:

A Standard Perforator:

A 6-level Transmitter-Distributor (sitting on an unrelated typewriter stand):

A Multiface Perforator:

(Sitting on the Multiface Perforator are two instances (one wrapped)
of the rarest part of the system: the counting magazines for the
Multiface Perforator. These seem always to have been removed and lost.
The two in the picture were a gift from a friend in Belgium
who acquired them accidentally with unrelated equipment.)
My thanks to the list for bringing this TTS Reperf. to my attention.
6-level equipment in any form is scarce.
Regards,
David M.
