That's quite the clever little box for what it is.
The "default" (no patch cords) mode is Line-1 to Printer-1,
Line-2 to Printer-2 etc.
I'ma take a wild guess here, that the Misc jack would be for
adding a second printer into the loop. Or something like a
distortion test analyzer, punch or tape reader.

Side note:
I really like the "long frame" jacks, they're damn near bullet
proof and will last almost indefinitely.
And, they can be mounted on 3/4" centers for dual plug
patch cords. (Or head sets in telephone operation.)
