 OK, saw nothing in the ADIS docs I could find, but in 1095B,  on page 38 (pdf 53) there is a note about a different slip connector used only by the FAA.  So that confirms the FAA history.

So now why would they mix a 14 TD with the more modern LBXD?  Maybe the XD247 referenced in the same note had some special features not yet implemented in the 28 series?
