No warranty express or implied. I have probably forgotten and/or
mis-rememberated something vital but I hope another greenkeyer will come to
my rescue -
ALL the manuals are at http://www.navy-radio.com/manuals-ttycorp.htm
1) Probably it will just suffer from gummed up lubricant, same as other old
TTY machines. Clean and lube.
2) Rotate the fan (right) end of the motor so the top of the fan moves
toward you. It should probably move easily after a few cycles. NOTE - the
mechanical clutches on the 28 have to be running at speed to release at the
end of a cycle - so there will be more drag when turning by hand but that
shouldn't hurt anything unless you keep it up for a few thousand cycles and
your arm will wear out first....
3) The 28 printer will cycle open and the hammer bang on an empty space in
the typebox.
4) Press a key and the keyboard code bars should shift and the transmitter
go through a cycle.
You may have to depress the UNLOCK key first
5) Hook up a loop supply to test key to printer operation by hand. There is
no mechanical connection between the keyboard and printer except for LOCK,
LOCAL CR, and LOCAL LF.
7) Assuming things move OK by hand, power up the motor. STOP if you hear
strange noises!
If you are nervous, pull the printer off the base so you can see the motor
operate by itself. If it doesn't want to start up unless you start it
spinning by hand, you probably have a bad starting capacitor. Send me email.
8) Clean and Lube. test to see if you need to do any adjustments, but
sounds like that won't be necessary.
9) Have Fun!
