I went with my good friend Jack Hart to the Antique Wireless Association museum in Bloomfield NY today. Duncan Brown, K2OEQ, was a gracious host and I learned a ton. This is a fantastic museum and I encourage all Greenkeyers to visit it some day.
There is a very impressive teleprinter exhibit, and plenty more. Duncan gave us a great presentation on the complete history of teleprinters.
I was also very impressed with some of the early radio pieces in the museum. They have had some very generous benefactors in the past. For example, their exhibit on Edwin Armstrong has some of the real equipment he was using for his experiments. They have an authentic Marconi room. And plenty of radios - ham and otherwise. Television, including early mechanical television. And so much more.
Two additional big highlights for me were the operational 1KW spark generator (hold your ears!) and complete Voice of America radio station (the Delano transmitting station, one of four that existed).
Duncan gave us a fantastic tour and he speaks very well about all aspects of the history of wireless. I was impressed by his knowledge and presentation.
Put it on your list of places to visit!
Paul
