Completely painless; all you see is just a few flashes of a bright red
light. I asked my eye surgeon how in heck he did it, and apparently it's
really low power, but tuned to a specific wavelength of "red", and you'll
be as good as gold afterwards (well, until next time).

You'll know you'll need it when your eyesight starts going fuzzy again,
and I'm due for another appointment (largely covered by, cough cough, the
Aussie health insurance system).

The alternative, of course, is that you will go completely blind, and as I
keep saying to colleagues who are concerned about turning a decade of age,
well, it's better than the alternative... "Mate, there is only one thing
worse than turning x0, and that is *not* turning x0".

A former boss was turning 40, and a colleague was turning 50.

Me, I turn 66 next month (and therefore just a youngster here).
