[GreenKeys] 28ASR installation question - shipping blocks?

I have disassembled a somewhat mousified USN 28ASR (AN/UGC-6K) for
cleaning. There are blocks of wood below the left and right cradle rails
(the ones that mount to the cabinet via shock mounts). Each wood block is
bolted to the cabinet with two 1/4-20 bolts. In each rail, there are two
pointed screw studs that can be twisted down to contact the wood. I cannot
find this illustrated in any of the manuals I have.

I am guessing that this is a shipping security thing? It seems like the
shock mount is defeated if you screw the studs into the wood block.
