[GreenKeys] R-808?

It is an R-808. I have a couple of them. The decoder uses a
discriminator operating at the 455 KC. IF frequency. It might be
possible to use 170 cycle shift, but the output from the discriminator
would be less, and probably need amplification. One possibility would be
to build an add on circuit that only responds to polarity reversal from
the discriminator. Stability could also be an issue. The GRC-14 of which
the receiver is a part is not noted for short term stability. The R-392
and T-195 are superior in that regard, and for that and other reasons
won the competition against the GRC-14. The GRC-14 tranmitter power
supply alone weighs more than a T-195 and R-392 together.
