In that 1957 example, Navy RIs began with RB, USAF with RJ, and Army with
RU. A little later, they all went to RU.

A correction to my earlier message. For a ship terminated with a
NAVCOMMSTA, the RI was the COMMSTA RI plus the last 3 letters of the ship's
call sign. So for example when USS Blue Ridge (NQHS) was terminated with
Honolulu, the RI would be RUHPQHS
