I don't know, but it is pretty well known that Western Union was in the
business of reporting sports scores of all kinds, and their principal
customers were bookies. They also developed a variety of score boards.
Some of us have Teletype Model 31 printers in W.U. portable carrying
cases. This is a very light weight tape strip printer and keyboard.
Would be taken to a sports event for the operator to report the progress
of the game.
I don't believe the news stand had a W.U. clock. No real need for it
there. I believe the main customers for that service were things like
broadcast radio stations where they had to have accurate time for
switching on network programs.
