Wow, that is some truly amazing material you picked up.
Seeing these 6 bit (re)perforators is letting me think back to a school
field trip in the mid '70's when we did have a guided tour at the regional
newspaper. We were shown the whole process of editing, typesetting
(linotype),
photo making (scraping lines in a plate) and printing. We also did see one
of these reperforators in action whereby it would reformat an input tape
and the output was 'columnized'. The tape then went into a 'modern' linotype
which would assemble the lines and cast the lead strip.
