Keep in mind that no one but the Mafia and the Govt can actually force you
to pay high prices.
Unless the M19 guy is Certifiably Crazy, he'll eventually get tired of
low/no offers in response to his asking price.
Then he'll settle for a sale rather than "no sale".

He probably based his asking price on something like
1) eBay asking prices for beautiful, working, M33 machines
2) the acquisition cost chalked on the side or on the surplus tag
3) hopes that a movie/tv producer needs one (this evidently works in LA)

Or he might be Certifiably Crazy and will eventually shred it for the scrap
metal price.
You can't cure Certifiably Crazy, you just have to wait it out...
