Hi Steve,
I'll have to check the schematic for the Model 19, but as I recall the SEND-REC-BREAK key has wires that go to a terminal block on the right side of the page printer base. I chose the normally open contacts, closed when in the SEND position, and ran a cable from that terminal block to the "REMOTE" connection on the back of the ST-6. Grounding the "REMOTE" line places the ST-6 in standby mode.
I also run the PTT off the same switched line using diodes for isolating the two positive switching signals. So throwing that one switch (SEND-REC-BREAK) key activates the PTT on my FT-950 at the same time as placing the ST-6 in standby mode.
Soon I'll be wiring up an Arduino based sequencer to also switch in a linear amplifier so I can run more power on RTTY. I don't want to hot switch the amplifier while using a carrier based mode from the transceiver, hence the need for the sequencer.
Does that help?
73,
Dale

Dale, can you share how you made your connections to the ST-6?

Congratulations, Russ on a great performance in RTTY Roundup, and what a great setup. Here's a link to a little video I assembled on my YouTube channel describing what it takes to make a search and pounce type contact in RTTY Roundup using my vintage Teletype equipment.

Vintage radio teletype (RTTY) contact made using a Teletype Model 19 from the 1940's. Thanks to my brother Greg, N9CHA, for the editing.
