GA OMs;

When I was a young guy, back in the '70's I worked in a factory
where we were building the MD-522 (MODEMs).

One of the tests was to vary the frequency fed to the MD-522
because out in the field those things have to put up with
all sorts of abuses.

We had to punch in and out on a punch clock, which was across
from the manager's desk.

A couple of the guys wired the punch clock to the variable frequency
power generator. They'd slow it down during lunch hour and then speed
it up afterwards.

The boss never caught on - because he didn't wear a wrist watch. :-)

seriously considered as a means of communication.
The device is inherently of no value to us.
