[GreenKeys] John Nagle's USB <-> 60 mA loop board

Hello All,

As previously mentioned, I have planned to make some of John Nagle's USB
<-> 60mA Loop Converters.

Please read this in full, and have patience with this build.......I have
a few other things on my plate.

My initial plan was to have enough parts to build 20 PCB's and have 10
PCB's for anyone who wished to buy one.

I have noted all those who have expressed interest, and in the next few
days I'll make up a web page with the status and who want's what.....I
don't want to clutter up the Greenkeys forum with this.

The prices given are as a guidance only, and this is an evolving, work
in progress....when I make the first unit, and make sure it works for me
I can then finalize the prices, and begin assembling more as
required.....if there is a demand I don't mind doing more batches in the
future.

The full design, and all details are freely available on John Nagle's
github space here: https://github.com/John-Nagle/ttyloopdriver

John's design is for the most part SMD (Surface Mount). As John as
previously mentioned components like the LT3750 charge controller are
not available in a through hole version.

Today 6th of March 2018, 30 Circuit boards arrived. Here is a photo of
what they look like:

These circuit boards cost approx $6 each + Postage cost from Melbourne,
Australia.

Some of the components are slightly obscure, and there is not one place
where everything can be obtained in one hit.

With that in mind, and trying to keep the build cost down, I have
sourced components from 7 different suppliers.

This is what a fully build PCB would look like (Note the CP2102 is not
shown as there is no 3d outline in kitcad for it):

With regard to components, approx $26 is consumed on the Switchcraft
1/4" jacks (J1, J2), Switch (SW1), Push Button (SW2), LED's (LED_3) and
3.5mm jack (J3).
The remainder of the other components come in at approx $58.....If you
plan to mount the unit into your own enclosure then I have sourced some
more
cost effective panel mount versions of the switch, button, led's and
jacks, which will only be about $15. I have not costed the Hammond
enclosure, as I will not be using it.

I hope to be able to offer a fully built and tested unit to members of
the Greenkeys forum for approx $100 +postage (if there is any interest).

Please note that these figures are still not confirmed, but are close to
the mark.

At present I am waiting on 3 orders of components to do an initial
build, and test the board for myself....all going well the components
will all arrive this week.

Again, please give me a chance to actually build and test a unit, then I
can finalize the exact costs.

Thanks,
Bruce Phillips
