What I'm meaning to get at is, with a constant-current circuit, how much can you reduce the supply voltage to get the time lag down to where it would be with 120V and 2K ohms? And we can usually afford to have it somewhat worse than that since we may be driving the TTY from a UART at the correct speed and over a short piece of wire.
