Yes, I am aware of that; the reason I mentioned it is that someone didn't 
understand why I used an (estimated) 100 v to calculate the maximum power 
dissipated in the resistor instead of the nominal 120v...

You don't need voltage regulation for an inductive load; quite the
opposite, in fact.
