[GreenKeys] Cleaning agents...

Hi Eric -
I've tried Simple Green (the industrial stuff, at its maximum recommended concentration 15:1), but it's only been effective for stuff that isn't seriously dried (to a wax-like consistency) and caked on...  Also, since a water rinse is necessary, I was concerned about leaving water in the felt wicks, and oil reservoirs.  If you're replacing the wicks and / or baking the unit afterward, I suppose that's not such a huge concern.  I've had the best luck with mineral spirits - which I guess is a lighter grade of petroleum product than kerosene.  On older equipment, like my KSR15, I don't think you can beat mineral spirits.
I did use Simple Green on my ASR33 keyboard - I was concerned with damaging the plastic in it, also, it wasn't quite as badly gooked up as other parts of the machine.  After rinsing, I very carefully dried it with a handheld hair dryer.  I have tested mineral spirits on several plastics, and I think I probably would've been OK using it on the 33 keyboard, but when it doubt, test it first...

Good luck!

Hi!

Cleaning metal parts on a 15 or 19… I’ve seen some suggest Simple Green (I assume it’s not the industrial version if Simple Green... I hope).  I’ve also seen some suggest kerosene.  What else is out there???

Thanks much!

Sincerely,
Eric :)
