Compact fluorescent light bulb? You can't find them anywhere 'cause they suck!

…

Okay back to being serious: If we ignore colour temperature issues
("Why the <bleep> is my light orange-y?"/"Everything has gone <bleep>
blue!"), fluorescent lights have a low colour rendering index (CRI),
unless you buy specific kinds of fluorescent tube (tri-phosphor, cool
white).

CRI is how well you are able to tell colours apart, versus natural
light. Hence The Sun and natural daylight has a CRI of 100;
incandescent bulbs and halogen lamps have CRIs of 100 as well.
Fluorescent are anywhere between 50 and 75. Your cheap-o LED lamp gets
around the low-to-mid 80s, and higher CRI fluorescents do
high-80s/low-90s.

Other disadvantages of fluorescent lights is that they're not designed
for frequent restarting, and a lot have mercury in them to actually
start the light.

LED light bulbs are superior, and use even less electricity, while
letting you see colours better. Without the whole "possible mercury
spill" and "burns out faster because I keep turning it off and on"
problems.
