The original Teletype museum at the company was not open to the public,
but occasional visitors to R&D got to see it. Maybe it was public after
it was moved out of Skokie, that was after my time. But the main purpose
of the museum originally was as a reference for the patent department and
for the R&D staff. Ran Slayton's history paper says it was for a time a
magnet attraction for visitors to the plant, but I don't think it was
well known. Those visitors would have been people doing business with
the company who had some reason to get inside the plant.

Ran Slayton's other document "THE EARLY YEARS OF TELETYPE DEVELOPMENT - A
PATENT HISTORY" is more relevant to the museum since some of the items
in the museum were those that had led to specific patents.
