[GreenKeys] oiled tape

I would lay a roll of tape on its side, a piece of plastic (grocery bag) underneath, use a spray bottle and slightly mist down one side with a very thin oil - repeat the process maybe two more times a couple hours apart. Next day I would do the same on the other side.
AND ONLY MISTING, NOT SOAKING
I think it will work. You can try on an almost empty roll first to see the outcome.

Subject: [GreenKeys] oiled tape
Can non oiled tape be converted to oiled tape by soaking it in a solvent/oil
mixture and allowing the solvent to evaporate?
Has anyone done this?
