Nick & Jerry,

Thanks for the info! Searching for just "TRT Global Communications" did not bring up anything useful.

Now that I know what to search for, I see a lot of hits for "Tropical Radio Telegraph"
A good history of their network & stations is at:
http://www.pateplumaradio.com/genbroad/utes/wbf.htm

I am familiar with The United Fruit Co's early radio network - just didn't know that it became "Tropical Radio Telegraph". At the AWA Museum, we have a United Fruit Co display and tell people about banana distribution as an important early use of radio communications. I'll have to add some of the info from the above website.

Nick - where did you find the TRT ads??

Thanks & have fun,

Duncan

TRT (Tropical Radio Telegraph) started life in the early early days as the old United Fruit Company wireless subsidiary -

They went through various mergers and acquisitions and name changes (TRT Telecommunications, TRT/FTC Communications, etc.)

They were evidently a competitor of RCA Global in providing telex, etc. as an IRC (International Record Carrier).

There is some info here - www.baudot.net/docs/kimberlin--telex-twx-history.pdf

Does anyone know anything about "TRT Global Communications" ??

I know RCA Global Communications provided the link between US & Europe for TELEX at one time (AWA Museum has a Siemens T100 TELEX machine with a RCA logo on it). Maybe "TRT Global Communications" took over from RCA Global at some point??

Thanks,
