Hi Evan,
Welcome to the group!
Be careful what you wish for on this list. It may just appear on your doorstep one day.
My son and his family live in Austin, so on one of our trips to see the granddaughters my wife and I might just drop a Teletype Model 28 ASR on your doorstep there near Waco if you think you might want to do some tinkering. They are pretty big machines and will require a good bit of tinkering. A Teletype Model 28 is a Baudot coded machine that runs on a 60ma (or 20ma) loop of 120vdc so some conversions are necessary. But you’ll be able to find all that information here on this list.
Again, welcome and enjoy the firehose you will be fed with!

Subject: [GreenKeys] An Introduction
Hello, everyone!
I just subscribed today, so I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Evan Jones. I am 18 and live near Waco, TX.
I was introduced to vintage computers and related hardware when I discovered LGR ( a great computer collecting channel on Youtube) a few years ago. I was fascinated! Before I knew it, I was scouring Craig's List for an old system. I ended up getting really lucky when I found an IBM 5160 with a SCSI drive and 640 k of ram for a really good price. I'm hoping to get a XT-IDE card working for it soon. My collection of stuff on my desk also includes 2 Royal typewriters (one 40's and one 50's vintage) that I've tinkered with a little to get them working well.
I don't own any teletype hardware yet, but I would like tinker with one, one day. The "mechanicalness" of teletypes is absolutely beautiful to me! If I ever got one, I would probably primarily use it as a terminal (perhaps with my IBM).
It's great to meet you all!
-Evan Jones
