[GreenKeys] W.U. F1/F2 Telex sub-set

I need some help with a "mystery" piece of equipment I have.  I have two
or three of them that came with Model 32 Telex machines I acquired from
different sources.  I will try to attach photos of it.  Ken Gartland has
kindly given me a lot of information and Wayne has been giving me great
advice, as usual, trying to get a 32 working for i-Telex.  This
apparently was a "modem like device" used to send Telex signals over
regular telephone lines after DC loop lines were discontinued.  The
device has AC power, a 3-wire cable that connects to Terminals 8 & 9
(the loop connections) on the back of the Model 32 call unit, plus
Ground, also a 4-wire telephone-type cable with modular connector on one
end.  The thought is that these were activated (if that's the right
term) by frequency sets from one end of the line.  What I am thinking of
doing is trying to use one, or more, of these devices to test my 32's to
see if they will work for i-Telex.

Here are some of the questions I have:

1.  What were the frequencies of the tones used?

2.  Are the tones shifted or constant?

3.  Can I use a computer to generate the tones?

4.  Can I use AFSK tone generators on some of my T.U. equipment such as
the HAL ST-6000 or 8000?

5.  Could I connect two of the devices back to back, or with machines on
either end, to simulate sending/receiving Telex messages?

I hope these questions are phrased understandably.

Thanks,

Kevin Phillips
