Bill,
I wish you well on the memorial service. A lot of questions have come up lately on Greenkeys, a site where TTY guys share stuff.
I do restore 32/33's for collectors but dont have any here at this time. It is rare lately that I find one even though I had about 150 that I serviced in the 1980's or so. Now its an owner will find one and send it to me for restoration. I still do this as a hobby although I have 1 customer in NH and another in NJ. Both in machine shops.
Sorry I couldnt help. I will forward this email to the Greenkeys site in case anyone else could help.
A better email for me is teletypeparts at comcast.net
Best regards and 73,
Wayne

Dear Wayne,
I am writing on behalf of the Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences department at MIT, in Cambridge MA. 2017 was Ed Lorenz' centenary. We’re organizing a two-day event, On Chaos and Climate, February 1-2, to honor the lives and scientific contributions of Lorenz + colleague Jule Charney, also turned 100.
I’m coordinating a retro-computing performance with a LittleGP-30, a replica of the the LGP-30 computer Lorenz used in 1961 for atmospheric calculations, leading to discoveries of sensitivity to initial conditions & chaos later coined as ‘the butterfly effect.’
As the printout proves critical to the story, we’d really like to demonstrate a period-correct teleprinting interface in the performance.
I’ve seen your contact details in a couple places regarding teletype parts and repair, and noted that you are nearby in Vermont. Would you happen to have any operational ASCII teleprinters, such as a Model 33 ASR? If so, would it be within the space of possibility for you to loan or us to rent the device?
The most critical time periods would be for the February 1 & 2 dates of the symposium, and if even feasible on short-notice, January 12 (next Friday afternoon) when the maker of the LittleGP-30, Jürgen Müller is traveling from Germany through Boston, bringing a device of compatible baud rate, for us to assemble / test some system for the performance.
I can send more details, further questions if you do happen to have a 33ASR available, or put in requests for funds for any transit + time costs. I'm willing to road-trip to make something work :)
Thanks for your time, and any information or further contacts you can provide w.r.t. finding an ASCII teleprinter in the NE area to work with this January.
Hope this finds you well.
My kindest regards,
Bill McKenna
