I am not an expert, but if I see a 100+ year old item on ebay without any wear and tear marks on wood, brass or other materials, a red flag goes up immediately. Also, the phillips-head screw was patented in 1932, a second and very bright red flag goes up. Beside all these facts, the seller doesn't say anything about the item in his description, he is talking about history only.

Well, I could be totally wrong - what do I know.

Jordan, you better stick with your wife's idea to build your dream house before you get ripped off by a possible counterfeit.

Something interesting came up on eBay yesterday: 122990373270

I'm familiar with these very early machines only from reading about them-- never seen one as they seem to be quite rare, and I've yet to visit any museums that have similar equipment that I know of. While I wouldn't be surprised if it were the case, I don't know if this particular model has only three known left in the world. eBay sellers are known to make things up at times.

I showed my wife this item and said we can either build the house we're planning or get this. You can guess which one she elected.
