I found a neat way to degauss my old TV -- I think the PTC resistor had 
burned out -- when I accidentally magnetised the shadow mask (don't ask) 
was to grab an old monitor and place it face to face; it worked a treat!

I'm glad I kept that old 20kg monitor...
