[GreenKeys] Anyone familiar with the Model 29 (Twenty Nine) Teletype?

Back in 1969, a friend of mine had an 8 level Teletype in what appeared to be an ASR cabinet. I think
he referred to it as a Model 29. At that time, there was no talk of the ham bands going to either faster
speeds or different codes. 60WPM Murray/Baudot, etc. was it for a while.

He offered to convert it to a Model 28 if anyone was interested in it that way. Don't have a clue as to
what this would have entailed. A few weeks of 'spare time' for certain. At that time, a simple Model
28KSR was at the top of my 'dream list' and my wallet could not afford one for several more years.

At some point, that machine disappeared, so I guess he found a buyer for it. I will have to draft a
message to some of the 'locals' who also knew him. As strange as it sounds, this fellow was NOT a
ham. He was a Michigan Bell Telephone Company employee who hired in around 1938 as a
TELEGRAPHER of all things. He was never involved in Teletypes as part of his employment. They
just became of great interest to him and became one of his 'hobbies'. He was the 'go-to guy' for any
problems with most Teletype machines.

Just wondering if I might have misunderstood him about the Model Number? Was there ever a
Model 29? Was it perhaps for Typesetting? The recent post about the 'find' in Pennsylvania is what
triggered this memory for me.

Any replies will be appreciated.

Thanks,
