If White Lithium Grease is not good then what is a good grease for the sliding parts or for bearings? I had not heard there was a problem with lithium grease before.

Subject: Re: [GreenKeys] TTY lubricants question again
FYI,
I've just been advised by our good friend Tom to NEVER use white lithium grease under any circumstances as it will congeal into a solid. I was honestly a bit unsure about white lithium grease and was hoping someone would correct me if it was bad advice I was given. Please disregard that. It sounds like this Red & Tacky stuff is the way to go. I'm looking forward to making whomever manufactures it $4.00 richer.
Also, it looks like the emails regarding Red & Tacky only just started making it into my inbox today despite showing as having been sent days before my ill-advised white lithium grease message. I'm not sure if this was a GreenKeys delay or if Google is bad at delivering messages.

I don't think anyone else responded to this-- at least not publicly-- so I'll just add what I had discovered from some research:
I don't know about a specific, special product as far as the grease you mentioned goes. I've only read that white lithium grease works well, and I've noticed it freshly applied on several other people's machines here and there. I'd love to know what that product is, though.
Regarding oil, I used 5W-20 full synthetic motor oil on my machines by a suggestion elsewhere online. So far it seems to be working pretty well. I was told this kind of oil doesn't congeal over time, so it's supposed to be especially good for this use. I also assume the viscosity is supposed to be close enough to original specifications, though I have nothing to back that up except assuming other people knew what they were talking about.
I would be curious to know the opinions of the real experts around here, though. This is just what I've learned in my relatively brief journey and may not be the best.

Sorry for dragging this old subject back up but I haven't been successful looking for the info in the message archives.
Some time not long ago there was a sticky grease recommended for the motor pinion gear that wouldn't sling around. What was the name of that product?
And for main shaft oil and such, I think synthetic 0-20 motor oil was a recommendation?
Thanks all & 73,
