I found that out the hard way. The keying transients from the
selector magnet will kill the adapter. As I did with the Lorenz.

If you're going to use opto-isolators, might as well just make
a complete adapter and do without the Black Box adapter
entirely.

Of course you can use the Black Box adapter with a polar
relay.
