Well I have yet to transmit a bit over the radio.  Have received, but have not transmitted.

 

But I have done a lot of sending of text messages from my TTY machines, using Nagle’s BaudotRSS program, to lots of smart phones, and then received replies from those smartphones that print on the TTY paper.  It never ceases to amaze young and old alike.  The original text machines in my marriage of old and new technologies demonstrations.  On display again the first weekend in November at our local hamfest.

 

If you’d like to get a text, sent from the keyboard, from an excited young (or old) boy or girl on your phone and then reply so they can see it print on paper, let me know and we can arrange at text based QSO via a TTY at my end.

Does not surprise me that those guys use John’s program while Paul uses ITTY. 

 

One thing I’ve learned from this group is either you are a RTTY guy or you are not. Or to phrase another way, either you actually want to use RTTY signaling (either on HF or ITTY) at times for the RTTY experience, or you do not want to use it at all because that’s not your thing. 

 

There’s plenty of room in this hobby for both types of enthusiasts.
