And one problem with any extant Extel machines is that some of them don't
use ribbons, but were intended for use with a special paper stock that
had the ink built into it.  Made originally by 3M.  As was explained to
me, the paper was coated with microscopic white eggs, each egg having
black ink inside.  So when struck by a print wire the eggs broke and
produced a black mark.  So far as I know the paper is no longer available
anywhere.
