[GreenKeys] ITTY Europe channel

Hey Martin,

I have to admit, I am definitely not the most advanced guy whenever it comes about modern technology - I am more the mechanical guy and hobby tinkerer, getting zapped in my workshop once in a while. After restoring my Siemens machine, it was a "No-Brainer" to me to order the I-Telex system. With all the help from the entire telex group in Germany and my TTY mentor, it was actually a piece of cake to go online - I really enjoy it and I am so glad that I went this rout. The cost is no more than a trip to the grocery store and I would like to take the opportunity here to encourage others to look into this system.

I would suggest you need to look at the logs (do you have them?) of who has connected, snapshots during the night will not be very representative!

By its nature this service can only be used sporadically as we are running historic machines with limited supplies of paper, so personally I may use it occasionally when I am in the mood. Clearly I cannot run it continuously as it would wear out the machine and run me out of paper!

I can understand that this may not "pay" looking at it from a commercial point of view, and if that is a problem then we may have to lose the service. If its not always available it will get used even less.

But I would like to think that it can continue for the love and support of our hobby and machines! It certainly is needed and used although probably not as much as your home service.

No I have never attempted to join the "Telex" network you refer to, its very hard to do and manage, and I have heard others say its hard to join it even if you want. Personally I would not be interested in that, so I hope Greenwich ITTY will continue.

Martin

Actually, I'm copying the European channel at least twice a week for an hour or two each session - and always enjoy it.

Is anyone using the ITTY Europe channel? Every time I take a look it seems to have no listeners. It seems a shame to leave it powered up for no users. I could shut it down and then power it on upon request if someone has a need for it in the future.

Thoughts?
