     I would not worry about the oil too much. The oils were sold under 
a number of trade names by Monsanto and used in large transformers and 
oil filled capacitors due to having a higher flash point than plain 
mineral oil. It turned out to be a carcinogen. If you work on anything 
where you might contact the oil wear plastic gloves and avoid breathing 
vapor. As long as it is contained it is not a hazard.  The main concern 
with it is that some capacitor manufacturers dumped a lot of it over the 
decades it was in use. In particular General Electric dumped tons into 
the Hudson river over an extended period of time. It is also a concern 
when used in large power transformers that blow up spraying the oil over 
a large area.
     I don't know if Aerovox used it in their small caps or not but you 
do not have to open up the cans. Both paper caps and electrolytic can 
capacitors can be replaced my modern ones on terminal strips.
