I can't see why the power supply could not be used for loop circuits, it
is very similar or even the same as circuits many of us have built for
the purpose. If you have one, I would recommend replacing the selenium
rectifier with silicon diodes of at least 1000 PIV rating so any
transients don't fry them, and enlarge the filter condensor to about 300
MFD. Beyond that, I think it would work fine. I do believe many of these
warnings were for company political and financial reasons rather than
technical ones.
