If I am not mistaking, the inside is a felt-type material.

DON'T SQUISH, PRESS OR RUB !

Your padding will shrink drastically. How do I know this - well, I use to make felt for various applications.

Soak the padding in a 50/50 solution of 409 Cleaner and water, and spend
fifteen or so minutes squishing and fluffing and squishing and fluffing,
then rinse with warm water for a few minutes, then give it a final long
squish and then hope you have a nice hot sunny day to dry it in the sun.

Scrubbing will most likely get you handfuls of brown hair.

PS - 409 will tend to try to turn your skin into soap, so wear good
rubber gloves.
