If you have cigarette tar in that lining material, I'd not even think about
using any water-based solutions. While I'm talking straight out of my arse,
here, I'd suggest going directly to a dry cleaning type solvent like carbon
tet or trichlor / perchlor et al.

Hate to say it, but chances are you might never be able to salvage that
lining. Have you a local cleaners that deals with cig tar issues in drapes,
rugs and so on?

The stuff is completely freaking noxious. And I'm a smoker, as we speak..
but heck if I smoke inside vehicles or indoors around sensitive equipment.
