[GreenKeys] Simple Green, (and corrosion protection)

I've been waiting for someone to note a couple of cleaners I have used.  While in the AF, we used 409 on 28s, KLIs, and 39 gear.  It is a fairly good degreaser... thou I agree there should be some hi tech stuff out there.  Somewhere along the way, we began to use Gunk.  It was brushed on and rinsed off with water.  The machine was then blown off with compress air and stuck in the oven to dry is all out.  With both methods, proper lubrication is key.  
The selector mags were removed before doing any of the above.
409 still works for me today.

But after cleaning you still have to protect your bare steel from natural corrosion. 
What would be the best way? It's 2017 and there must be some newer high-tech stuff in a spray cane most of us don't know of.

So far, the cheapest I've seen the original SG is a 5 gallon container for $59 on Amazon. I have not checked any of my local suppliers.

if the residual oil in the felts is displaced by a (Water based) cleaner...

If using a non-solvent based cleaner, I wud be really concerned
about the felt issue...

Regarding the reports of a "Second" type of Simple Green cleaner,
I have seen two types for sale in Walmart, Massena, NY,

I am going over there next week, and I will investigate
further and report the findings...
